Two Pak residents among six Jaish militants slain in twin military operations, says police

SRINAGAR — Six Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants were slain in two different military operations at Anantnag and Kulgam districts in South Kashmir.

Reports said, a gunbattle broke out between government forces and militants at Mirhama area in Kulgam district on Wednesday evening in which three militants were slain. Within hours another gunbattle broke out at Naugam area of Verinag in Anantnag district in which three more militants were slain.

The militants slain in Mirhama Kulgam operation have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Dar from Tral, Uzair Ahmad from Mirhama Kulgam and a Pakistani militant Shahid @ Shahzaid while as Nisar Ahmad Khanday from Dooru Anantnag, Peer Mufti Altaf Hussain Shah from Nathipora Dooru in Anantnag district and a Pakistani militant were slain in Naugam Verinag operation.

Meanwhile, one Armyman was killed and three others including a Jammu and Kashmir Police Cop were injured in Naugam Verinag operation.

Earlier, a Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) was launched by joint team of government forces including J&K Police, Indian Army and CRPF at Mirhama Kulgam and Naugam Verinag in Anantnag district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

Incriminating material including 4 AK47 and 2 M4 rifles along with Ammunition were recovered from both encounter sites.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar while terming it big success said that six militants affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit were killed in two separate military operations one in Kulgam and another in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
