Two soldiers injured in Bandipora encounter, searches underway

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — At least two soldiers were injured during an encounter that broke out between security forces and militants at Renji forest area of Aragam in Bandipora district on Wednesday morning.

Jammu and Kashmir Police in a post on X said, “A contact was established between militants and security forces in the early morning in Renji forest area of Aragam, Bandipora.”

During the exchange of gunfire, two soldiers received injures and were shifted to hospital for treatment and are said to be stable.

The Indian Army’s Srinagar based Chinar Corps in a post on X said, “Based on specific intelligence by agencies regarding presence of militants, a Joint operation was launched from 21 April onwards by Indian Army & J&K Police in general area of Mulkhyama Forest, Bandipore. The area was cordoned & search conducted, resulting in a fire fight in early hours this morning. Operations in progress.”
