SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Indian Army on Friday paid tribute to two soldiers who lost their lives while conducting counter-terror operations in the Kishtwar range of Kokernag in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The soldiers, Lance Havildar Palash Ghosh and Lance Naik Sujay Ghosh of the Army’s elite Para unit, went missing during a combing exercise in the forests of Kokernag’s Ahlan Gadole area when communication was lost with them amid a severe snowstorm and whiteout conditions on the night of October 6–7. Helicopters and search teams had been deployed to trace them.
Later on Thursday, the body of one soldier was recovered, while the body of the other soldier was recovered today.
In a statement posted on X, the Indian Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said, “Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of Bravehearts Lance Havildar Palash Ghosh and Lance Naik Sujay Ghosh, while conducting relentless counter-terror operations in the Kishtwar Range of Kokernag battling extreme weather conditions. Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us.”
They added, “Chinar Warriors salute the valour and sacrifice of the Bravehearts. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and are committed to their well-being.” — (KIMS)
