Unauthorized pony operator booked on Shri Mata Vaishno Devi track

JAMMU (KIMS) — Police have booked an unauthorized pony operator on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) track for operating without valid registration or authorization.

During routine patrolling by the police party from Police Post Banganga near Bathing Ghat No. 2, Ban Ganga, one person working as a pony carrier was stopped for checking.

The individual identified himself as Billu, son of Manda Ram, resident of Panjar in Tehsil Panchari, District Udhampur. When asked to produce a valid license or authorization for operating as a pony carrier, he failed to do so and admitted that he did not possess a registered pony service card.

By operating without authorization, he violated the SDM Katra notification governing registered service providers on the SMVD track. Accordingly, an FIR (No. 283/2025) under Section 223(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Katra, and further investigation is underway.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of SHO Police Station Katra, Inspector Khyatiman Khajuria, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Shri Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
