WB resident found dead in Srinagar, police initiates investigation

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — A man from West Bengal was found dead in the fields of the Gangbugh area of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Thursday.

“Police received information telephonically that an unidentified male body was lying in the fields of Gangbugh, Srinagar. Upon receiving this information, a team from Police Station Batamaloo reached the spot and conducted an investigation,” the police said in a statement.

The preliminary investigation identified the deceased as Mohd Zakir, son of Mohd Jawadullah, a resident of Bengal.

“Legal action has been initiated under section 194 of BNSS at Batamaloo Police Station to ascertain the cause of death. Prima facie, it appears to be an incident involving a wild animal attack,” the statement added.

The family of the deceased, including his brother Mohd Javed, who lived with him in rented accommodation in Gangbugh, are being questioned.

Further, technical evidence, including CCTV footage, is also being analyzed. Further investigation into the case is going on. — (KIMS)
