SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The weather in Jammu and Kashmir will improve from Wednesday afternoon, the Meteorological Department said on Tuesday.
The higher reaches of the Union Territory received heavy snowfall while rains lashed plains during the last 24 hours.
“There is possibility of intermittent light to moderate rain and snowfall at most places of Kashmir region till late afternoon/evening today. Similar weather conditions will prevail in Jammu region with thunder and lightning with gusty winds in plains and light to moderate snowfall over higher reaches till evening today,” an official of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said.
“There is possibility of intermittent light rain and snowfall at few places in both divisions of the Union Territory till tomorrow afternoon,” he said.
“The weather will gradually improve from tomorrow afternoon and there is no significant weather activity in Jammu and Kashmir till February 27,” he said.
The Meteorological Department (MeT) has advised travellers/tourists to follow advisory of Administration and Traffic Police. It has also advised general public over hilly areas not to venture in avalanche prone and sloppy areas.
Meanwhile, the Summer Capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded minus 0.7°C, Qazigund 0.0°C, Kupwara minus 0.4°C, Gulmarg minus 4.0°C, Pahalgam minus 0.5°C and Kokernag minus 0.3°C as the Minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Tuesday.
The Winter Capital, Jammu recorded 13.4°C, Katra 9.2°C, Bhaderwah 1.6°C, Batote 3.4°C and Banihal 2.0°C as the Minimum temperature in Jammu region.
In Ladakh region, Leh recorded minus 4.5°C and Kargil minus 9.2°C as the Minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
