Wheelchair Cricket Tournament concludes in Kokernag

SRINAGAR — With an aim to provide a platform for wheelchair – bound people to ‘live equal and independent’ through cricket’, Indian Army’s 19 Rashtriya Rifles Charlie Company under Supervision of Major Pankaj organised a cricket tournament for Disabled players at Kokernag.

A total of 30 players from various parts of the Kashmir participated in themes Tournament with full zeal and enthusiasm.

Colonel Manpreet Singh attended as event and interacted with dis abled Cricket players such programmes will be conducted to boost platform.

The tournament started on 8 May 22 and two matchs of 15 overs were played.

The final match was played between Budgam11 and Srinagar 11 wherin team Budgam 11 emerged victorious in closely contested match.

Major Pankaj of 19 Rashtriya Rifles Sikhli said during the post match presentation ceremony that ‘’We wish our initiative will be a great leap in restoring faith and confidence in the differently abled community in general and sportmen in particular.”

Various other personalities like DySP Kokernag, DDC Breng, BDC Kokernag and local sarpanchs also attended the final match.

The arena was euphoric with exemplary sportmen spirit and skills displayed by the players who gave their individual best for the collective good and equal opportunity for differently abled.
