Widespread rain, snow over higher reaches till October 17: MeT

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department (MeT) on Saturday forecast widespread rain and snowfall over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory till October 17, 2023.

“Rain and snow over higher reaches is very likely at many places of Jammu and Kashmir today,” an official of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said.

“Widespread intermittent light to moderate rain and snowfall over higher reaches is very likely from October 15 to 17,“ he said adding that “the main activity will be on October 15 and 16.”

“Heavy snowfall at some places over higher reaches can’t be ruled out during this period,” he said adding that “there will be significant drop in the temperature across Jammu and Kashmir during these days.”

Meanwhile, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded 12.0°C, Anantnag 9.5°C, Qazigund 10.8°C, Kupwara 10.1°C, Gulmarg 4.6°C, Kokernag 9.0°C and Pahalgam 7.3°C as the minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Saturday.

The winter capital Jammu recorded 20.5°C, Katra 16.5°C, Batote 11.6°C, Bhaderwah 10.5°C and Banihal 10.6°C as the minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded 2.0°C and Kargil 4.0°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
