10 gamblers arrested in Pulwama, stake money seized: Police

PULWAMA — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that it arrested 10 gamblers in Pulwama district and seized stake money of Rs. 3,96,200/- from their possession.

Pulwama Police in a statement said, on 5th March, 2023, Police Station Pulwama received specific information through reliable sources about gambling activities at public place in Chewa Kharud village of the district.

The Police party from Police Station Pulwama upon this raided the specific sopt and arrested 10 gamblers on the spot namely Mohd Ashraf Bhat S/o Ab Rashid Bhat R/o Prichoo Pulwama, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Yousuf Bhat R/o Bagi Mehtab Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Rehman Bhat R/o Chanapora, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani S/o Fatah Mohammad Wani R/o Monghama Pulwama, Feroz Ahmad Malik S/o Ab. Aziz Malik R/o Chadoora, Ashiq Ahmad Sofi S/o Gh. Mohd. Sofi R/o Rainawari Srinagar, Mehraj Ahmad Malla S/o Khazir Mohammad Malla R/o Sumbal, Anwar ul Haq S/o Akbar ud Din R/o Tangpora Srinagar, Tariq Ahmad Sheikh S/o Sonaullah Sheikh R/o Shalpora Aloch Bagh, Younis Ahmad Zarger S/o Nazir Ahmad Zarger R/o 90 Feet Soura, reads the statement.

The statement also said that the stake money of Rs. 3,96,200/- was also seized from their possession.

Accordingly, a Case FIR No 45/2023 U/S 13 Gambling Act has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and further investigation has been set in motion, reads the statement. — (KIMS)
