Drug Department, PCDA organize anti-Drug awareness rally in Pulwama

PULWAMA, Mudasir Maqbool (KIMS) — As part of the Nasha Mukht Abhiyan, the Drug Department, in collaboration with the Pulwama Chemists and Druggists Association (PCDA), organized an anti-drug awareness rally in Pulwama on Thursday.

The rally commenced from District Hospital Pulwama and concluded at the Sports Stadium Pulwama, drawing participation from officials of the Drug Department, members of the chemists and druggists fraternity, healthcare professionals, and civil society representatives.

The rally was led by Assistant Drug Controller Shopian/Pulwama Humaira Ji and Drug Control Officer Pulwama Tariq Ahmad. Among the participants were PCDA President Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, Chairman Nisar Ahmad, and members of the Chemists and Druggists Association.

Speaking on the occasion, the participants highlighted the growing threat of drug addiction among youth and stressed the need for collective efforts to tackle the menace.

They said awareness, education, strict monitoring of pharmaceutical drugs, and active community participation were essential to curb substance abuse.

Participants carried placards and banners carrying anti-drug messages and raised slogans promoting a healthy and addiction-free society.

The rally sought to raise awareness among the public, particularly youth, about the social, economic, and health consequences of substance abuse.

The organizers reiterated their commitment to supporting the government’s efforts under the Nasha Mukht Abhiyan and urged parents, teachers, religious leaders, and community organizations to play an active role in combating drug abuse.

The event concluded with participants taking a pledge to continue spreading awareness and work collectively towards safeguarding the youth from the menace of drugs. — (KIMS)
