JAMMU — The Jammu and Kashmir government has notified the J&K Electric Vehicle Policy-2026 following its approval by the Council of Ministers, the Chief Minister’s Office said in a post on X.
The six-year policy aims to promote clean, affordable and weather-resilient electric mobility across all 20 districts of the Union Territory.
According to the government, key measures include demand incentives, interest subventions, top-up incentives for early adopters, scrappage bonuses and tax exemptions to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles.
The policy also focuses on developing cold-climate charging infrastructure, including 24×7 charging hubs, grid integration and phase-wise electrification of vehicle fleets.
It further envisages public-private partnerships, youth skilling and employment generation to create a sustainable EV ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Minister congratulated Transport Minister Satish Sharma and the Transport Department on notifying the policy, describing it as a step towards clean transport and sustainable development in J&K. — (KIMS)
