KULGAM — Police in Kulgam have arrested an absconder who was wanted in a 2013 case registered at Devsar police station, officials said.
The accused, identified as Shabir Ahmad Beigh, son of Lal Mohd Beigh, a resident of Banimullah, Devsar, was wanted in FIR No. 62/2013 under Sections 148, 323, 336, 354, 379 and 447 RPC. Police said he had been evading arrest and had shifted to Kerala to avoid apprehension.
Acting on specific information about his return to his native village, a police team from Police Station Devsar apprehended him from Banimullah. He was subsequently shifted to Central Jail Mattan, Anantnag, on the orders of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kulgam. — (KIMS)
