BUDGAM — Budgam Police have arrested three more accused in an alleged fake job and financial fraud syndicate, taking the total number of arrests in the case to five.
The newly arrested accused have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat and Saleem Ali Bhat, all residents of Bandipora district.
Police said Zahoor Ahmad Bhat has emerged as a key alleged conspirator in the case. Questioning of the accused is underway to ascertain their individual roles and identify other persons linked to the alleged network.
Earlier, police had arrested Jehangir Ahmad Dar and Firdous Ahmad Bhat in connection with the case.
According to police, the alleged syndicate duped people by promising government jobs, admissions to educational institutions outside Jammu and Kashmir, and lucrative business opportunities through fictitious business entities.
The accused allegedly exploited victims by claiming influence and connections with senior government officials and political figures to induce them to part with substantial amounts of money.
Police said the investigation is underway to trace financial transactions, identify more victims and associates, and establish the full extent of the alleged fraud. Further arrests and recoveries are likely as the investigation progresses. — (KIMS)
