JAMMU (KIMS) — At least two militants were gunned down in a gunfight as Army troops foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Degwar sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The alert troops in Degwar sector noticed the movement of some militants attempting to sneak into this side under the cover of darkness in the early hours of the day and engaged them in an encounter, officials said.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) Defence Jammu, Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said, an army ambush party established contact with militants in Garhi battalion area around 2:00 am.
Two infiltrating militants were engaged by the joint teams of Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police. One militant fell down immediately, second militant tried to run back to Line of Control (LoC) was engaged and hit, he was seen falling down near Line of Control (LoC), he said.
