DMA issues avalanche warning in 6 J&K districts

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Disaster Management Authority (DMA) on Wednesday issued an avalanche warning in six districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The warning has been issued for next 24 hours in view of the inclement weather conditions in the Union Territory.

According to Disaster Management Authority (DMA), the avalanche with low danger level is likely to occur above 2800 & 3500 metres in Doda and Ganderbal districts while the medium danger level avalanche is likely to occur above 2400 metres in Poonch, Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara districts in the next 24 hours.

The Management also advised people living in these areas to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas.

Notably, the higher reaches of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir received light to moderate snowfall in last couple of days. — (KIMS)
