Drug peddler apprehended in Anantnag, 2.9 kgs cannabis substance recovered

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended a notorious drug peddler in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday and recovered 2.9 kgs cannabis substance from his possession.

“A notorious drug peddler identified as Mohd Amin Zargar, son-in-law of Gh Hassan Ganie, resident of Sirhama was apprehended by a team from Srigufwara Police Station during naka (checkpoint) operation at Nowshara crossing. Approximately 2.9 kilograms of a cannabis substance was found in possession,” police said in a statement.

“A case has been registered under FIR No. 97/2024 at Police Station Srigufwara, under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. An investigation is underway, and further legal action will follow,” the statement said.

“Anantnag Police remains committed to combating the menace of drug abuse and urges the community to join hands in eradicating this threat to society,” the statement added. — (KIMS)
