SHOPIAN — Police in Shopian arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered 1.95 grams of heroin-like substance and ₹12,050 in cash from his possession, officials said on Wednesday.
Police said a team from Police Station Zainapora, during routine naka checking at Aglar, intercepted a person under suspicious circumstances and searched him.
During the search, 1.95 grams of heroin-like substance and ₹12,050 in cash were recovered, police said. The accused was identified as Feroz Ahmad Mir, son of Noor Mohd Mir, a resident of Litter, Pulwama.
A case under FIR No. 126/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora, and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source of the contraband and establish its forward and backward linkages. — (KIMS)
