Dry weather to continue in Jammu and Kashmir till Jan 23: MeT

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — As the higher reaches of Kashmir valley including Gurez and Zojila-Gumri axis on Srinagar-Leh highway received light snowfall, the Meteorological Department (MeT) on Saturday forecast dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir till January 23.

An official of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said, “The weather is expected to remain generally dry in Jammu and Kashmir till January 23.”

He said, “The feeble Western Disturbances are approaching towards Jammu and Kashmir on January 16 and 20 evening. Generally cloudy weather with light snow over isolated higher reaches is expected under the influence of these Western Disturbances.”

“He said, “There will be redevelopment of fog with cold day conditions from tomorrow onwards till January 16 over the plains of Jammu Division.”

Meanwhile, the Summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded 0.2°C, Qazigund minus 2.0°C, Kupwara minus 0.3°C, Gulmarg minus 1.0°C, Pahalgam minus 0.6°C and Kokernag minus 1.2°C as the Minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Saturday.

The Winter capital, Jammu recorded 4.0°C, Katra 7.2°C, Batote 8.0°C, Bhaderwah 5.8°C and Banihal 3.0°C as the Minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded minus 5.6°C and Kargil minus 10.4°C as the Minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
