ANANTNAG — An encounter breaks out between government forces and militants at Sirhama village in Anantnag district in South Kashmir on Saturday.
Reports said a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Sirhama village following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
Sources said, 3-4 militants are believed to be trapped in the encounter.
The encounter was going-on when reports last came in.
Meanwhile, authorities have snapped down mobile internet service in the area as a precautionary measure. — (KIMS)
