Encroached land retrieved from senior NC leader

SRINAGAR — The district administration Anantnag on Thursday retrieved encroached land in Qazigund tehsil of the district.

The encroached land was retrieved by revenue officials of Tehsil Qazigund from kin of former Forest minister and senior National Conference (NC) leader Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah.

The land, measuring, 1 kanal and 18 marlas is registered as Kahcharai in Estate Kurigam of Tehsil Qazigund.

The said piece of land, valuing more than Rs 1 crore, had been illegally encroached upon and is one of the many such patches of land retrieved from clutches of influential land grabbers.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government recently launched anti-encroachment drive across the Union Territory by which properties purportedly built on encroached land will be reclaimed by the administration.
