Four drug peddlers arrested in South Kashmir, huge quantity of contraband substance recovered: Police

SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said it has arrested four drug peddlers in South Kashmir’s Awantipora and Anantnag area and recovered huge quantity of contraband substance from their possession.

According to press release, in Awantipora, acting on a specific information regarding hoarding of narcotic substances by one person namely Mushtaq Ahmad Shah son of Ab Salam Shah resident of Bhatgund Khulnagh Tral at his residential house. Accordingly, a Police party of PS Tral along with Executive Magistrate raided the specific spot and recovered 10 kgs of Grinded Cannabis (Bung Chura) form the said residential house. He was arrested and shifted to police station.

In Anantnag, Police arrests three drug peddlers boarding a vehicle (truck) bearing registration number JK05F-7723 following a specific information regarding drug peddling at Halmullah. 520 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Sabzar Aghmd Bhat son of Mohd Ramzan resident of Kudiangan Marhama, Shahid Hussain Peer son of Mushtaq Ahmad and Danish Fayaz Dar son of Fayaz Ahmad, both residents of Guloosa Bala Tregam Kupwara, it read.

Consequently, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, it read.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
