Head Constable suspended, inquiry initiated against two cops for not maintaining records

JAMMU — In a significant development, authorities in Jammu took action against police personnel at Janipur Police Station for negligence in record maintenance, PTI reported.

A show-cause notice was issued to the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Bakshi Nagar, an inquiry was ordered against the station house officer (SHO) of Janipur, and a recommendation for the suspension of a head constable was made.

This action followed a surprise visit by Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Jammu-Samba Range, Dr. Sunil Gupta to the station, during which he inspected the record room and ‘malkhana’. It was found that most registers were not being properly maintained.

Stressing the importance of vigilance, especially with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, DIG Gupta directed the SDPO, SHO, and other staff to ensure heightened security measures.

Additionally, he instructed them to promptly address public grievances.
