Honey trap gang luring gullible people and extorting money in Srinagar, arrested: Police

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a honey trap gang in Srinagar by arresting its four members.

Police said, Four members of a honey trap gang identified as Firdous Ahmed Mir of Rainawari used to impersonate as SP, Mohd Tariq Mir of Lal Bazar as Reporter, Masrat Mir of Habba Kadal as Crime Branch Officer and Ashiya of Bemina as pseudo honey trap girl were arrested for luring gullible people and extorting money from them.

The girl Ashiya used to set up meeting with the gullible person and the other members of the gang would impersonate as professionals like reporters/police officers and then blackmail the victim, they said.

One house of female accused in Mehjoor Nagar was used by them to run the gang, they said.

Meanwhile, Police has registered a FIR No 68/2023 U/S 392, 472, 419 of IPC at Sadar Police Station in this regard and further investigation has been taken up. — (KIMS)
