Income Tax Department holds awareness programme at Lassipora Industrial Growth Centre

PULWAMA — The Income Tax Department, Udhampur, on Wednesday organised an Income Tax Awareness Programme at the Industrial Growth Centre, Lassipora, Pulwama, with the aim of creating greater awareness among taxpayers, industrialists, business owners and other stakeholders about income tax provisions and compliance requirements.

The programme was held at the Conference Hall of the Industrial Growth Centre, Lassipora, and was attended by representatives of the business and industrial community.

Smt. Monika Dhami, IRS, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar, was the chief guest on the occasion. She was warmly received by JKPICCA President Haji Bashir Ahmad Naik and businessman Mohd Shaban Bhat upon her arrival at the venue.

During the programme, participants were briefed about various important aspects of taxation, including the Income Tax Act, 2025, timely and accurate filing of Income Tax Returns (ITRs), advance tax provisions and Tax Deducted at Source (TDS).

The officials also highlighted the importance of maintaining proper financial records, understanding tax liabilities, adhering to statutory deadlines and ensuring compliance with applicable income tax provisions.

The interactive awareness session provided an opportunity for industrialists and business stakeholders to seek clarification on taxation-related issues and understand their responsibilities as taxpayers.

The initiative was aimed at strengthening taxpayer awareness and encouraging voluntary and timely compliance with income tax laws. It also sought to promote greater cooperation between the tax administration and the business community for creating a transparent and compliant economic environment.

The event conveyed the message: “Be Aware, Be Compliant, Be a Proud Taxpayer.”
