Intermittent rain, snowfall over higher reaches of J&K

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department on Wednesday forecast intermittent rain and snowfall over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir for the next 24 hours.

The weather was cloudy in the Union Territory during last 24 hours. Some places also received rainfall during this period.

“Today, there will be Intermittent rain, thunderstorm and snowfall over higher reaches at most places in Jammu and Kashmir,” an official of the Meteorological Department said. He said, “There is also possibility of hailstorm and strong gusty winds at few places during this period.”

He said, From May 25-26, 2023, “Generally cloudy weather is expected in Jammu and Kashmir. A brief spell of rain, thunderstorm may occur towards late afternoon or evening.”

He said, From May 27-30, 2023, “Partly to generally cloudy weather is expected in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Meanwhile, The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded 13.5°C, Qazigund 12.6°C, Anantnag and Kupwara each 12.4°C, Kokernag 11.4°C, Gulmarg 6.0°C and Pahalgam 9.2°C as the minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Wednesday.

The winter capital Jammu recorded 21.1°C, Katra 19.0°C, Batote 13.7°C, Bhaderwah 13.0°C, Banihal 13.8°C, Udhampur 19.6°C and Patnitop 13.6°C as the minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded 6.2°C and Kargil 9.5°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
