Kashmiri students being forced to shave their beard before entering college in TN: JKSA

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — In a shocking incident, the Kashmiri students are being forced by college authorities in Tamil Nadu to shave their beard before entering the college, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) said on Tuesday.

Nasir Khuehami, the National Convener of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) said, “Around two dozen Kashmiri students enrolled in College of Nursing, Chengalpattu Govt Medical College & Hospital in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu are being forced to shave their beard before entering the college.”

“It is shocking that around 2 dozen Kashmiri students currently enrolled in a Tamil Nadu college are being forced to shave thr beards before they can be allowed to enter the college. This incident occurred at the College of Nursing, Chengalpattu Govt Medical College & Hospital in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu,” he said in a post on X.

“The incident raises serious questions about the protection of fundamental rights in an inclusive society,” he said.

He also urged the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. K. Stalin to intervene in the matter immediately and ensure the protection of the fundamental rights of these Kashmiri students.

Calling the incident outrageous, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has requested Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin to intervene in the matter and ensure the protection of their fundamental rights. — (KIMS)
