Lashkar militant hideout busted in Bijbehara, huge cache of arms recovered: Police

SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that it has busted a hideout of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit in Rakh Momin Dangi village of Bijbehara town in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.

It said, huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the hideout.

Police in a press release said, on the intervening night of 12th and 13th of March 2023, on the basis of a specific input developed over a period of time by Anantnag Police, a joint Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) along with Army’s 1 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) was launched in Rakh Momin Dangi area Bijbehara.

The search operation in the area led to busting of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) militant hideout and subsequent recovery of huge cache of arms, ammunition and other war like stores including 5 IED’s, PTD’s Programmed Timer Devices and RCIEDs, 6 Detonators, 3 Pistols, 5 Pistol Magazines, 124 09mm rounds Ammunition, 4 Remote Controls and 13 Batteries, the press release said.

Police has registered a Case FIR No. 58/2023 in this regard in Police Station Bijbehara under relevant sections of law and investigation set into motion, the press release said. — (KIMS)
