Light rain, snow at isolated higher reaches of J&K from December 12: MeT

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department (MeT) on Thursday forecast light rain and snowfall at isolated higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir from December 12th.

An official of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said, “Currently, the weather is mainly clear at most places of Jammu and Kashmir.” “Similar weather conditions will prevail in the Union Territory till December 10th,” he said.

He said, “The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in Jammu and Kashmir on December 11th,” “Similar weather conditions will prevail in the Union Territory with light rain and snowfall at isolated higher reaches from December 12th to 15th,” he said.

He said, “The Minimum temperature is expected to fall by 1-2°C during next 3 days over all the stations of the region, thereafter there will be slight improvement in the Minimum temperature till December 15th.”

Meanwhile, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded minus 2.6°C, Qazigund minus 2.2°C, Anantnag minus 2.0°C, Kupwara minus 3.1°C, Kokernag minus 1.4°C, Pahalgam minus 4.9°C and Gulmarg minus 2.5°C as the minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Thursday.

The winter capital Jammu recorded 9.6°C, Katra 9.2°C, Batote 4.3°C, Bhaderwah 1.5°C, Banihal 1.0°C, Udhampur 4.2°C and Patnitop 4.0°C as the minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded minus 10.0°C and Kargil minus 9.4°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
