Man arrested for extorting money in Pulwama: Police

PULWAMA (KIMS) — A man has been arrested for extorting money from people through criminal intimidation in Pulwama district of South Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Tuesday.

“Police Station Rajpora on Tuesday received an information through reliable sources that some persons are extorting money from the general public by deceitful means through criminal intimidation. In this regard, a Case FIR No. 22/2024 u/s 384, 506, 420 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered and investigation was set into motion,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement.

“During the course of investigation, one person namely Andleeb Ahmad Mir, son of Ab Rasheed Mir, a resident of Rajpora was arrested,” the statement said.

“Two toy Pistols used for the commission of crime have been recovered from his possession. Further investigation of the case is going on,” the statement added. — (KIMS)
