SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday expressed concern over the widespread devastation caused by flash floods in the Pir Panjal region, particularly in Rajouri and Surankote, and called for immediate relief, rescue and rehabilitation measures for the affected people.
In a post on X, Mehbooba Mufti said the flash floods have caused significant loss of lives, damage to public infrastructure and destruction of private property.
She termed the situation a stark reminder of the environmental consequences of indiscriminate deforestation, unregulated mining and encroachment of riverbeds.
Mehbooba urged the government to ensure immediate relief, rescue and rehabilitation for all those affected by the flash floods. — (KIMS)
