MeT forecasts light rain, snow in Kashmir, partly cloudy sky in Jammu

SRINAGAR — The Meteorological Department on Friday forecast light rain and snow at isolated places in Kashmir valley and partly cloudy sky in Jammu region.

Rain and snow lashed the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, partly cloudy sky in Jammu division and rain/snow at isolated places in Kashmir division is expected during the next 24 hours.

He said, Srinagar recorded 0.7 degrees Celsius while Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded minus 0.3 degrees Celsius and minus 4.0 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Jammu region, he said, Jammu recorded 12.8 degrees Celsius, Katra 10.6 degrees Celsius, Batote 2.2 degrees Celsius, Banihal 2.0 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 2.1 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Ladakh region, he said, Kargil recorded minus 9.2 degrees Celsius and Leh recorded minus 8.0 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

Kashmir is currently under 20-day-long period of ‘Chilai Khurd’. It will be followed by 10-day-long ‘Chillai Bache’. — (KIMS)
