SRINAGAR — The ruling National Conference (NC) on Thursday issued a whip to its MLAs, directing them to remain present in the Assembly and vote in favour of party candidates in the election for four Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu and Kashmir.
The polling is scheduled to be held on Friday.
NC chief whip Mubarak Gul issued a three-line whip, instructing all legislators not to abstain, remain absent, or vote contrary to the party’s directions.
The NC has fielded candidates for all four seats, while the opposition BJP has nominated three contenders.
Given its strength in the Assembly, the NC is expected to comfortably win three seats, with a close contest likely for the fourth. — (PTI)
