Newly joined TRF militant killed in Shopian anti-militancy operation

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — A newly joined local militant was killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants at Kathohalan village of Shopian district in South Kashmir on Thursday.

Reports said, a joint team of government forces including Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF had launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Kathohalan village in Shopian district following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

They said, as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

In the encounter, one militant identified as Mysar Ahmad Dar of Veshro Shopian was killed. He was affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF) outfit and had joined militant ranks a week ago.

Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. — (KIMS)
