NIA Court declares Ashiq Nengroo a proclaimed offender

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court in Pulwama on Tuesday declared Ashiq Ahmed Nengroo, son of Ghulam Ahmed Nengroo a proclaimed offender.

Ashiq @ Molvi, a resident of Hanjan Bala of Police Station Rajpora was declared a proclaimed offender on the application moved by Pulwama Police.

Ashiq was also declared as an individual militant by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in 2022.

According to press release, Ashiq managed to exfiltrate to PoK in the year 2018 and is currently carrying out anti-national activities from PoK and is alluring the local youths in the militancy.

Ashiq is involved in many FIRs including 42/2022, 50/2023 of Police Station Rajpora 129/2013 of Police Station Pulwama, 89/2018 of Police Station Jagger Kotli Jammu and 191/2018 of Police Station Kathua, 20/2019 of Police Station Awantipora, 188/2020 of Police Station Pulwama and in many anti national and militancy related cases, the press release said.

After exfiltrating to PoK he managed many drone dropping, weapon delivery and hawala money to keep the militant activities alive in the Union Territory, it said.

Ashiq’s name has surfaced in many FIRs in recent time, where he approach the local youth on social media, misguided them to join the militant ranks and also tasked them for weapon transport etc, it added.

The press release further said that he misguided two youths namely Ruhail Abdullah, son of Mohd Abdullah of Nulli Shopian involved in FIR No. 116/2023 of Police Station Litter and Shahbaz Ahmed Dar, son of Gh Hasan Dar of Gulshanabad involved in FIR No. 331/2023 of Police Station Pulwama. — (KIMS)
