OGW detained after Facial Recognition System alert in Anantnag

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said they detained an alleged Over Ground Worker (OGW) after the Facial Recognition System (FRS) generated an alert at the Nunwan X-Ray Point during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

According to a police statement, the individual was identified as Faisal Muzaffar, son of Muzaffar Ahmad, a resident of Babhara, Pulwama.

Police said the suspect was intercepted and detained after the Facial Recognition System generated a timely alert, following which police personnel apprehended him for verification and further legal proceedings.

The statement said the successful detection highlights the effectiveness of the technology-enabled security grid and advanced surveillance systems deployed by Anantnag Police to strengthen security and ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining a robust security framework and urged the public to cooperate with security agencies for the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage. — (KIMS)
