BARAMULLA — Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla have registered a cyber fraud case against two persons for their alleged involvement in using mule bank accounts to receive and transfer illicit funds, officials said on Thursday.
The FIR (No. 05/2026) has been registered at Cyber Police Station Baramulla under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 66(c) and 66(d) of the Information Technology Act.
The accused have been identified as Mohsin Ashraf Ganie, a resident of Gulshanabad, Baramulla, and Sahil Irshad, a resident of Khanpora, Baramulla, presently residing at Chakloo.
According to police, the case was registered following information alleging that mule bank accounts were being used to facilitate the movement of illicit funds within and outside Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said such accounts can be used to conceal the origin and movement of suspicious transactions, making it difficult to detect and prevent cyber-enabled financial offences.
Investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of the alleged transactions, establish the roles of the accused and identify other persons or networks potentially connected with the case. — (KIMS)
