Police solves theft case within 24 hours in Awantipora, accused arrested

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday solved a theft case within 24 hours by arresting an accused person involved in commission of crime and recovered stolen property in Awantipora.

On 22/03/2025, Police Station Pampore received a complaint from Parvaiz Ahmad Wani son of Mukhtar Ahmad Wani resident of Qazigund Kakapora stated therein that during intervening night of 20/21-03-2025, some unknown burglars have stolen JCB Excavator bearing registration number JK18A-1871, parked at Patrol Pump Kadlabal Pampore.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.35/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation was set into motion.

During the course of investigation, a police team headed by SHO PS Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore, raided multiple places/locations and based on certain tangible clues, officers zeroed in on a suspect identified as Mehraj-din-Thokar son of Ab. Rahim Thokar resident of KhaiTangan Baramulla.

Upon questioning, the accused accepted his involvement in the said commission of crime and after strenuous efforts made by police team the said JCB was recovered from district Baramulla.

The accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Further investigations is going on. The stolen property will be handed over their rightful owners after completion of legal formalities. — (KIMS)
