Pulwama Court convicts man in narcotics case

SRINAGAR [Mudasir Maqbool] (KIMS) — In a significant development, the PDJ Pulwama court on Monday pronounced its verdict, convicting Abdul Hameed Bhat, also known as Hameed Pujj, in connection with case FIR 42/2018 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, pertaining to the jurisdiction of Kakapora Police Station.

The case began on September 21, 2019, and the accused was charged on October 14, 2019. It involved the seizure of 104.400kg of Ganja and 1kg 200grams of charas powder, which is considered a commercial quantity of narcotics.

Today, on March 18, 2024, the court ruled the accused guilty, with the quantum of punishment set to be determined on March 22, 2024.

The court proceedings witnessed comprehensive written and verbal arguments supported by applicable legal precedents, presented by Sh. Javied Ahmad (JKPS), Deputy Director/Public Prosecutor Pulwama.

Ahmad’s hard work has been praised, especially given the UT’s strong commitment to fighting narcotics and drug-related crimes with zero tolerance. — (KIMS)
