Rain, thunderstorm at scattered places in J&K for next 24 hours: MeT

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department on Thursday forecast rain and thunderstorm at scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir for next 24 hours.

The weather was partly cloudy in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours while some places in Kashmir valley and Jammu region received light rainfall.

Today, Rain and thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir, an official of the Meteorological Department said. There is also possibility of hailstorm and gusty winds at some places towards late afternoon or evening, he said.

He said, From May 19-23, Mainly dry weather is expected in Jammu and Kashmir. However, a brief spell of rain and thunderstorm at few places towards late afternoon or evening can’t be ruled out, although chances are less.

Meanwhile, The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded 13.7°C, Qazigund 11.0°C, Anantnag 10.8°C, Kupwara 8.4°C, Kokernag 11.2°C, Gulmarg 4.6°C and Pahalgam 7.4°C as the minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Thursday.

The winter capital Jammu recorded 24.0°C, Katra 19.6°C, Batote 14.7°C, Bhaderwah 12.2°C, Banihal 13.1°C, Udhampur 22.1°C and Patnitop 14.6°C as the minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded 4.4°C and Kargil 8.3°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
