Rain, thunderstorms in Jammu and Kashmir, Weather to improve from May 10

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — The Meteorological Department on Monday forecast rain and thunderstorms in Jammu and Kashmir for next 48 hours.

The weather was inclement as it was raining along with thunderstorms and lightning at many places in the Union Territory since last evening.

The higher reaches of Kashmir valley including Shopian, Kulgam and famous tourist destinations Pahalgam and Gulmarg received snowfall.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, Today, the weather is going to be rainy, cloudy and cold in Jammu and Kashmir. “Rain and thunderstorm will continue at many places of Jammu and Kashmir today”, he said.

He said, On May 9, Mainly clear whether is expected but rain, thunderstorm in the late afternoon/evening can’t be ruled out at some places.

He said, From May 10-15, Mainly dry weather, rise in temperature with warmer days is expected in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded 6.7°C, Anantnag 3.8°C, Kupwara 5.2°C, Pahalgam 2.6°C and Kokernag 2.2°C which Gulmarg recorded minus 0.4°C as the minimum temperature in Kashmir region on Monday.

Jammu recorded 16.3°C, Katra 12.8°C, Batote 6.2°C, Bhaderwah 6.4°C and Banihal 5.7°C as the minimum temperature in Jammu region.

In Ladakh region, Leh recorded 1.1°C and Kargil 2.9°C as the minimum temperature. — (KIMS)
