Snowfall: Universities postpone exams, traffic disrupted

SRINAGAR — Due to heavy snowfall in since last evening, the universities in Kashmir valley have postponed all the exams today, while traffic movement has also been disrupted.

In view of inclement weather conditions, all PG, engineering and other examinations scheduled to be held on January 30, 2023 (Monday) have been postponed. Fresh dates for the deferred examinations will be notified separately later, said Dr Majid Zaman, Controller of Examinations at Kashmir University.

All the examinations scheduled on 30th of January, 2023 have been postponed due to inclement weather. Fresh dates for postponed papers shall be notified separately, said Controller of Examinations at Cluster University Srinagar.

Jammu-Srinagar National Highway is blocked due to shooting stones and mudslides at several places between Chanderkot and Banihal, J&K Traffic Police said.

The train service between Banohal-Baramulla has also been suspended due to snowfall.

The train service will remain suspended until the snow on the railway line is removed, said a Railway official.

The Railway will resume its operations as soon as the snow is cleared, he said. After the snow is cleared, WDS 4 will go first, then the train is expected to run railway, he added.

The Srinagar International Airport authorities have informed that all the flights have been delayed due to continuous snowfall.

Our visibility is only 200 M and there is continuous snowfall. We are simultaneously clearing the snow, the airport authorities said in a tweet.
