Srinagar-Jammu highway reopens for traffic after three days

SRINAGAR — Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, the only road link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country was reopened for traffic movement after remaining closed for three days due to shooting stones and mud slides.

The highway was closed on Monday due to shooting stones and mudslides triggered by rainfall at several places between Chanderkoot and Banihal area of Ramban district.

After clearance of debris, the highway was restored for vehicular movement. “Traffic plying smoothly on Jammu Srinagar NHW,” J&K Traffic Police said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, Mughal Road and SSG (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari) Road are still closed for vehicular movement due to snowfall. — (KIMS)
