Two drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar; Charas, Cannabis recovered: Police

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — While continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar district of Central Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

“A police party during patrolling near JVC Hospital Bemina, intercepted one person coming from Children Hospital to JVC Hospital Srinagar who tried to flee upon seeing the Police party. However, he was tactfully apprehended by the patrolling party and he has been identified as Javid Ahmad Lone, son of Bashir Ahmad Lone, resident of Khargam Pattan A/P Mansoor Colony Bemina. During search, 44 grams of charas like substance was recovered from his possession,” police said in a statement.

“Similarly, a police party from Police Station Nowgam during domination on Pahroo Kenihama axis intercepted one person namely Reyaz Ahmed Shah, son of Gulzar Ahmed Shah, resident of Check-e-Pahroo at Ganjipora. During search, 39 Kgs of Cannabis Powder concealed in two nylon bags were recovered from his possession,” the statement said.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated. Both the accused persons have been arrested. — (KIMS)
