Two LeT militant associates arrested in Baramulla, says Police

SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two militant associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant outfit during a search operation at Monchkhud village of Kunzer in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police in a statement said, a joint forces team of Baramulla Police and 176 Bn CRPF launched a Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) at Monchkhud village of Kunzer in Baramulla district on a specific information regarding presence of militants in the village.

The statement said that during Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO), two suspected persons identified as Khurshid Ahmad Khan S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and Reyaz Ahmad Khan S/o Gh Mohi ud Din Khan, both residents of Zandpal Kunzer were arrested.

During questioning, both suspected persons revealed that they are working as militant associates with militant outfit LeT (TRF), the statement said, adding that they were taken into custody immediately.

Ammunition along with incriminating material including 2 AK 47 Magazines, 15 AK 47 Rounds and 20 Blank Posters of Banned LeT (TRF) were recovered from their possession, the statement said, adding that they obtained these illegal ammunition with intent to carry out terrorist activities in Kunzer and adjacent areas.

A case under sections of Arms and UA (P) Act stands registered in Police Station Kunzer and investigation is set into motion, reads the statement. — (KIMS)
