SRINAGAR — Two non-local labourers were killed in a grenade attack at Hermain village in Shopian district of South Kashmir during the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday.
Reports said, the non-local labourers were in their rented accommodation at Hermain village of the district when suspected militants lobbed grenade on them, leaving them critically injured.
They said both were shifted to District Hospital Shopian for treatment, however the duo was declared brought dead.
Both have been identified as Ram Sagar, son of Gaja and Manish Kumar, son of Ram Avtar both residents of Kanooj, Uttar Pradesh.
This is the second such incident in the district in last three days. Earlier on Saturday, a local Kashmiri pandit Pooran Krishan Bhat was shot dead by suspected militants at Chowdry Gund village in the district.
Meanwhile, police have claimed that they have arrested a local hybrid militant who was involved in killing of two non-local labourers at Hermain village of the district.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) hybrid militant identified as Imran Bashir Ganie of Hermain Shopian who lobbed grenade on non-local labourers has been arrested.
He said that further investigation and raids are underway in this matter. — (KIMS)
