Umer Jaan criticizes Waheed Para and Iltija Mufti over neglect of local issues amid Gupkar protests

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Congress District President Pulwama, Umer Jaan, has sharply criticized MLA Pulwama, Waheed ur Rehman Para, and PDP leader Iltija Mufti for neglecting the pressing issues of their respective constituencies while participating in protests over the reservation policy at Gupkar, Srinagar.

Jaan urged Waheed Para to prioritize resolving the local grievances of Pulwama district before engaging in broader political discussions.

“The residents of Pulwama are struggling with inadequate infrastructure, power shortages, and poor road connectivity. These issues deserve your immediate attention. First solve the problems of Pulwama, then focus on protests in Srinagar,” Jaan stated.

Targeting Iltija Mufti, Jaan reminded her of the expectations of her Bijbehara voters.

“People who trusted you with their votes want local issues addressed first. Solve the problems of Bijbehara before participating in Gupkar demonstrations over reservation policies,” he remarked.

Jaan also raised questions about the PDP’s legitimacy in leading protests, citing its controversial coalition with the BJP in 2014.

“The PDP gave the BJP a foothold in Jammu and Kashmir through their alliance after the 2014 elections. Why are you protesting now in Srinagar against policies shaped by the very party you partnered with?” he asked, igniting fresh debate over the party’s priorities and accountability. — (KIMS)
