Pakistan Cricket Board appoints Sumair Ahmad Syed as new chief operating officer

LAHORE — The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) approved on Saturday appointment of Sumair Ahmad Syed as the new chief operating officer, sources told Geo News on Saturday.

According to the insiders, the appointment of the new COO was approved on the suggestion of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

Ahmed is a former deputy commissioner Lahore and is currently serving at the Prime Minister’s House.

Meanwhile, the incumbent COO, Salman Naseer, has been appointed as the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) chief executive, said the sources, adding that he will also take up the role of adviser to the PCB chief.

The PCB was expected to undergo significant restructuring as it was considering the creation of a new managing director role for Naseer, The News had reported.

Sources had indicated that Salman, who has steadily risen through the ranks, overseeing all departmental directors, may now be reassigned to head the PSL.

Mohsin Naqvi’s tenure as PCB chairman has seen several notable shifts within the cricket body’s hierarchy as he aims to implement his vision for a stronger and more efficient administration. — (Geo News)
