Scattered rain, snow in Kashmir, cloudy sky in Jammu: MeT

SRINAGAR — The Meteorological Department on Monday forecast scattered rain and snow in Kashmir valley and generally cloudy sky in Jammu division.

The weather was inclement in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

An official of the Meteorological Department said, “Weather is likely to remain dry with generally cloudy sky in Jammu and scattered to isolated rain/snow in the Valley during the next 24 hours.”

He said, Srinagar recorded minus 3.4 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam minus 4.7 degrees Celsius and Gulmarg minus 9.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Jammu region he said, Jammu recorded 6.5 degrees Celsius, Katra 6.2 degrees Celsius, Batote 2.1 degrees Celsius, Banihal 2.4 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 2.0 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Ladakh region he said, Kargil recorded minus 16.6 degrees Celsius and Leh recorded minus 12.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

The 40-day-long harsh winter period known as ‘Chillai Kalan’ will end on 31st of this month followed by 20-day-long ‘Chilai Khurd’ and 10-day-long ‘Chillai Bache’. — (KIMS)
