KATHUA — Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua arrested two alleged inter-state drug suppliers and recovered 80 grams of heroin-like substance as part of an investigation into a case registered at Billawar Police Station, officials said on Thursday.
The arrests were made during the investigation of FIR No. 89/2026 registered under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act. Police had earlier recovered 435 grams of heroin-like substance in the case.
During further investigation, a team from Police Station Billawar conducted searches at various locations in Kathua and adjoining areas, as well as in Punjab, to trace the backward linkages of the drug network.
The police team arrested Abinash Kumar, a resident of Nangal in Kathua, and recovered 53 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession, officials said. During questioning, he allegedly disclosed the involvement of another accused, identified as Jagmohan Singh, a resident of Amritsar.
The police subsequently apprehended Jagmohan Singh and recovered another 27 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
With the latest recovery, the total quantity of heroin-like substance seized in the case has risen to 515 grams, police said.
Both accused have been arrested as part of the investigation into the alleged backward linkages of the drug trafficking network. — (KIMS)
